Actor * Singer * Dancer * Songwriter * Recording Artist
Hanna Andreassen is an actor, singer, dancer, songwriter, and recording artist. She is currently a high school student of Musical Theatre in the Theatre Department at Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, where she is building on several years of training in acting for screen and stage, classical and contemporary voice, and dance.
Hanna has performed in Europe and the U.S. She is an experienced traveler, and she enjoys working in diverse locations and with people of all backgrounds. Hanna was raised in Norway and Oklahoma, where she is a proud citizen of the Muscogee Nation, a self-governed Native American tribe.
As a creative artist, Hanna is inspired by her background. She has co-created dance performances, musical plays, and she is a prolific songwriter.
My latest dramatic project is to write the music for the new musical "Muse", which originated and is in development at Interlochen Center for the Arts. "Muse" uses various Shakespeare characters - and William and Anne themselves - to create comedic mayhem with a serious message.
At the outset of the writing, I chose to develop the character of Portia. I am Muscogee Native American and from Northern Norway, both cultures with very strong women. Portia finds herself in a society of discrimination and hate. When she fails to convince the men by appealing to their human values, she uses her wit to stop the bloodshed.
The first song I wrote for "Muse" was for Portia. In this play, she says that mercy blesses the one that gives it and the one that receives it. I think being nice to each other, even those we disagree with and that are very different from us, is the most important thing we can do. This inspired me to write the song “Mercy”, which you can hear below.
"Muse" will premiere in the spring of 2025. Meanwhile, you can listen to other songs I have written here.
